Triceratops horridus
As a large herd of ceratopsians amble across a vast open stretch of
Cretaceous North America, we are witness to a symbiotic relationship between these dinosaurs and Enantiornithine birds. The painting illustrates birds assisting in removal of annoying parasites from reptilian skin, insects kicked up in the dust from passing herds. By eating the insects, the birds are provided a bountiful meal and in exchange the ceratopsians are no longer unwilling "hosts" to their unwanted 6 legged, travelling companions. |
